Privacy and call records

Privacy policy

This page was updated on October 6, 2026 to describe how a phone call to this site is handled: no call recording, a caller may leave a voice message, and the message is stored by the phone service. The analytics section further down names the two visitor measurement tools running on the website, Google Analytics and Cloudflare Web Analytics, plus a plain count the website keeps on its own server.

Every record this website holds about a reader traces back to the Hoffman Estates phone number or to a short note sent through the callback form under it. Anything that reads oddly gets explained by a return call to (847) 201-4879.

What a phone call keeps

A call to (847) 201-4879 drops into a hosted phone system, and a short set of items ends up in the record of that call:

  • The caller ID the carrier passes along.
  • The start time of the call and how long it ran.
  • Any voice message a caller leaves, which may include a first name, where in Hoffman Estates the tree is, a rough height and trunk width, what stands under the tree, and what the caller is seeing on it.

Calls to this number are not recorded. Nothing on our end asks for a card number, a bank account, a social security number or a driver's license. Anything of that kind a caller volunteers goes nowhere.

What the callback form collects

The short callback form sits below the phone number on most pages. It asks for a name, a return phone number and, if you want to add it, a short note about the tree. The web address of the page you were on when you sent the form travels with the entry, so the next return call already knows which service page raised the question.

Form entries are emailed to the owner of this website and to the business that handles Hoffman Estates tree calls for it, once one is named, and stored in a database held for this site. Nobody else is on the receiving end. Spam checking is handled by a service called Cloudflare Turnstile, which only loads once you begin filling the form in, never when the page first opens. No form entry is sold, rented, shared with an advertising network or passed to a data broker.

What the website logs on its own

The pages here are built to be read. The server that answers each page request writes an ordinary access line: which path was requested, the time the request landed, the browser string the device sent, and a rough geographic estimate drawn from the connecting internet address. Those lines rest on the hosting company's systems. They let us notice a broken page, see which topics readers actually open, and shut down obviously abusive traffic.

The site runs no advertising cookies and feeds none of the material above into any advertising, retargeting or data-broker network. It does carry two outside analytics tools, and also keeps a basic count of its own on the server. The visitor analytics section below sets out all three.

Visitor analytics

The site now carries two outside services for visitor measurement: Google Analytics, from Google LLC, and Cloudflare Web Analytics, from Cloudflare, Inc. Both are set up to hold off at page open and wait on the reader. The first scroll, the first tap, the first keystroke or the first pointer movement wakes them up. If a reader stays very still, the tools load on their own about ten seconds after the page has finished loading.

Google Analytics sets two first-party cookies in the reader's browser. One is named _ga. The other has a name that starts with ga. Together they let the tool tell one visit from another. What it records: the pages opened, the way the reader arrived (a search engine, another website or an address typed in), the kind of device and browser being used, and an approximate location (a city or region) that Google works out from the connecting network. Google Analytics 4, which is the version in use, does not log or store internet addresses.

The tool records two particular actions on their own: a tap or click on the phone number, and a send of the callback form. For the form, it logs only that a form was sent. The name, the number and the note typed into the fields do reach the business for the callback, but they are never handed to Google Analytics.

Google's advertising features are turned off here, which means Google signals and ad personalization are both out of play. The analytics data from this site is not used for advertising by the site and is not sold. Google holds the data for 14 months and then removes it.

Cloudflare Web Analytics is cookie-free. It counts how often each page is opened and measures how long pages take to load.

Besides those two services, this site keeps a plain count of its own, written to the server that answers each page request. It logs three things: a page opened, a tap or click on the phone number, and a send of the callback form. For each one, the entry holds the page, the date and time, a rough source for the visit (a named search engine, another website's address, a page on this site, or a typed-in address), and the device category (phone, tablet or computer). Four things it never holds: an internet address, a cookie, a browser fingerprint, and anything that links one visit to another. On the form, the record is only that one was sent, not the text typed into it. The log starts recording at the same moment as the two tools above: the first scroll, tap, keystroke or pointer movement, or roughly ten seconds after the page is done loading. The entries are kept for 14 months, then deleted. They are read only to see which pages are opened and how many readers tap the phone number, and are never sold or used for advertising.

Readers who would rather opt out of Google Analytics can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or read Google's own page on how its services use data from sites that use them. Blocking or clearing cookies in the browser's settings works too, and the site runs the same either way.

Why any of this gets kept at all

Four reasons sit behind everything above:

  1. The details of a call describe what the tree is doing, so a visit can be planned around it.
  2. The caller ID lets us call back about the message that came in.
  3. A voice message is the shared reference for setting up the visit.
  4. The hosting access log is what the host works from when a page breaks or a bot starts hammering a URL, which keeps the site up.

Leaving a voice message

Call (847) 201-4879 and tell us what the tree is doing; we get back to you about it. The phone service stores a caller's voice message until its regular deletion cycle removes it, up to 25 months on the vendor's platform. A message tied to a job that is still open, an unpaid invoice or a dispute stays until that matter clears, and leaves on the same cycle after.

Who ever sees what you send

Two groups of people handle the calls and form submissions on this site:

  • Staff at the Hoffman Estates tree service that handles calls to the number above, who need the record to run a job or to call you back. That business is not yet named here, and a return call will name it on request.
  • The vendor that carries the inbound phone traffic and stores voice messages. The vendor's name is kept off the page in case we move to a different provider; a return call will name it when asked.

Three other outside companies carry pieces of what the site records. The hosting company has the server logs the section above describes. What Google Analytics writes down goes to Google, and the counts that Cloudflare Web Analytics keeps go to Cloudflare; the visitor analytics section lays out what each one does. Subpoenas, court orders and formal demands from a government agency do get answered. Unless the order itself prohibits it, you are notified that a request naming you went through. Nothing you tell us or type into the form ever gets sold, rented or handed to a third party for advertising or data-broker use.

How long each piece of this lives

The periods below are the longest any of this stays on our systems; a record may clear sooner in practice, and nothing stretches past the number next to it.

  • Voice messages: up to 25 months on the phone vendor's platform.
  • Callback form entries: up to 12 months in the database for this website.
  • Website access logs: up to 12 months on the hosting company's systems.
  • Google Analytics records of your page visits: held by Google for 14 months, then removed.
  • The site's own count of page views, phone-number taps and callback-form sends: up to 14 months on the server, then removed.
  • The written job record (name, address, what the crew did, what was billed): kept while a bill, a claim or a question on the work is still open, then only for whatever period state and federal tax law requires of a record of that kind, and gone after.

Changing or deleting a record

These requests go through the phone, the same channel the rest of the business runs on. Call (847) 201-4879 with the request. You can:

  • Ask what records exist under a given address or phone number. The address a job was quoted at is enough to pull the file.
  • Ask that a specific callback form entry or job record come off the books. It comes off unless a bill or a claim is still active against it, and in that case the next call back names what is holding it up and roughly when it clears.

The line at (847) 201-4879 is the only line that handles these requests. Nobody at this service texts a homeowner about any of it.

Children

The pages here speak to a homeowner or resident dealing with a tree, and that is an adult's decision for the property they live on. The site is not aimed at anyone under 13, and no information knowingly gets taken in from a child. If a child's detail ended up in a voice message or in notes taken from one by accident, call (847) 201-4879 and ask for it to be removed.

Updates to this page

If the wording on this page is updated, the new text goes up at the same web address and the date at the bottom shifts to the day the update went live. A change that materially shifts what gets collected, or how long any of it stays, carries a short notice above the rest of the page for a stretch after. Previous drafts are not archived on the site.
